Greenleaf Manzanita (Arctostaphylos patula)

Greenleaf manzanita (Arctostaphylos patula) is a perennial evergreen shrub in the Ericaceae family. It forms circular clones that are 1 to 2 meters tall. Clones form when the lower branches root on the ground. Twigs have golden color glands. The smooth bright green leaves are 2.5 to 6 cenimeters long and 1.5 to 4 centimeteres wide. The glabrous pink or white bell shaped flowers form drooping clusters. Fruits are dark brown and 1 centimeter in diameter, each containing five hard seeds. Greenleaf manzanita is found in coniferous forests between 750 and 3350 meters in elevation. The CPP four letter code for this species is ARPA.
